I earned my PhD in Computer Science from University of Victoria. My main research interests include visual analytics, information visualization, personal visualization, human-computer interaction and user experience.  I am also interested in interdisciplinary research that bring psychological and cognitive sciences theories and principles into visual data analysis domain. My work on provenance investigates the use of analysis history for providing  proximal cues for navigating information spaces.

I am originally from a Mashhad, the second biggest town in Iran. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University Science Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and my Master of Software Engineering at the University Malaya, both in Malaysia. 

In 2009, I moved to Canada where I earned my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Victoria with Dr. Melany Tory. Since September 2016 I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC San Diego, working with Dr. Nadir Weibel and his lab.
